We had the opportunity to experience a Bat Mitzvah this past weekend. Our families are quite the melting pot of religions. We have Catholic, Jewish, Christian and LDS/Mormon. We, of course, are the Mormon's. : )
We left for San Diego on Thursday morning.
We got there, unpacked and met some family at a fish and chips place right off of the beach for dinner. The next day, we took the kids to the beach. It was pretty cold and wet while we were there. But, they LOVED the beach. Spencer would pick up handfuls of sand and just hold onto it. Emma enjoyed the rocks and shells. They ran around like crazy. We also made friends with a few squirrels that live on the beach.
That night we went to our very first Jewish church service. It was very interesting. We didn't really know what was going on, but we always like to learn about other religions. The next morning was the Bat Mitzvah. Shaun's cousin Sarah was the one "having" her Bat Mitzvah. (not sure what the proper term is) The kid's didn't do too well sitting, so after the first hour and a half or so, they all went to the car and watched a movie. That night was the reception/party. It was Alice in Wonderland theme. It was so cute. Such a fun party. Rodi did an amazing job planning and putting everything together. Emma danced the night away. She danced until the moment we left. Everyone was shocked! :)
Unfortunately, we had to leave the next day. It was such a fun trip. And it was so nice to see family from other states. Some hadn't even met Emma and Spencer before. I can't wait to take another trip.
